The Clockhaven Yuletide Ball - 5-7pm SLT

Ladies and gentlemen, you are cordially invited to the Grand Ball and Tea Room in Clockhaven, New Babbage (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Clockhaven/164/200/113) this evening, Friday, December 18, 2009 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm SLT for the Clockhaven Yuletide Ball.

Please join Host, Mr. MichaelD Mannonen and the people of New Babbage for a festive night of celebration and dancing.  There is no requirement for attire; it should be whatever a resident of New Babbage would wear to a Holiday party, from Urchin's rags to a fine suit, from Steampunk to Neo Victorian...just be yourself!

Miss Gabrielle Riel will transport you to the earlier, darker celebrations from this time of year that have their roots before the advent of Christianity via the musical programme. If you have difficulty hearing audio in the Second Life client, you can enjoy the party by opening http://steampunk.radioriel.org in a media player.

Major Changes Coming to Radio Riel in 2010

Dear Radio Riel Event Clients,

I need to inform you of some major changes coming to Radio Riel that will affect you, and any events that you plan that require the services of a Music Presenter (DJ).

Radio Riel started out 2.5 years ago primarily as 4 people who played music at events in the Steamlands/19th Century Grid. We only ran music on Radio Riel's Main Stream 4 hours a day. Fast forward to today - we have 3 music streams that run 24/7, podcasts, Radio Theatre and in house programs created by our Presenters. And, we still provide DJs for events!

In 2010 (no firm date set yet), I will be incorporating Radio Riel as an actual life, Non Profit organization in the State of Michigan in the USA. This is the big leap that I have wanted to make for a long time, and the decision has not been easy nor quick. It's a good thing for the most part, however it does come with one major negative issue that directly affects all of you.

As of January 1, 2010, Radio Riel will no longer be ab…

Don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I am angry

An open letter to the Residents of New Toulouse ~

It's time for me to express some thoughts and feelings to all of you. And let me tell you right up front that I am extraordinarily angry and I am going to do my best to write a clear and rational message.

The community of New Toulouse has been blessed in the last 3-4 months to acquire many new shopkeepers in both of our sims. I have to say that I am incredibly proud to be able to tell others that they need to come shop in New Toulouse, because we have some of the best content creators in the Steamlands/19th Century Grid. It's thanks to that high level of quality and the fact that these content creators chose to place a shop in New Toulouse that New Toulouse has flourished as a community in the last several months.

This morning I heard something that stunned and angered me. A few months ago, during the time that we acquired our group of new shopkeepers, a loyal customer of one of these shops was browsing and shopping. A New To…

Straight from the Duchess' Mouth

You might have heard rumors and gossip about me returning to Caledon. Or...you might not have heard a word. Or...you might not give a flying fig! :-) I do not like the rumor mill, so I'm going to stick a big wedge in it right here and now.

Yes, I have returned to Caledon. I repurchased the Southwest corner of Caledon Rothesay, which was my original parcel in that sim when the sim rezzed a year ago. Before Rothesay was a full sim, it was what was known as an "Openspace" or "Void" sim. It's name: Caledon Carntaigh.

Caledon Carntaigh was one of the first four Openspaces in Caledon. Des called them "Duchies" and bestowed the title of Duchess on to those of us that owned them. All four sims rezzed on December 7, 2006. The first four Duchies and their owners were as follows:
Kamilah Hauptmann (Caledon Vicereine) - The Duchy of LionsgateCoyoteAngel Dimsum - The Duchy of PrimvernessShenlei Flasheart - The Duchy of Loch AvieGabrielle Riel - The Duchy of Carn…

The Avalanche Begins

Image
December is *always* a crazy time for me in Second Life. Forget about my actual life! This month becomes all about work, work, work as Avatars throw holiday parties...and they call on Radio Riel to provide the music.

Yesterday was really the kick off of the Holiday Avalanche, and I had a wonderful time! What a nice start to the season. Here is the story in pictures.

The Marzipan Sweeties Holiday Revue at The Marzipan Teahouse

They're Baaack!

The Sweeties took the stage after a hiatus of several months

The revue was ballet/Nutcracker themed

The Peppermint Masquerade(s) at the Bashful Peacock

The Dancefloor at The Bashful Peacock was a Winter Wonderland

Candy canes, snowflakes, lights in the trees and Masquerade revelers

Me in my Candy Cane gown

Now it's time for me to buckle my seatbelt and hold on for the ride of the rest of the month!
