I Am What I Am

To say that this has been an interesting week in my Second Life is putting it mildly. ;-)

On Sunday evening, I played a program of show tunes at The Bashful Peacock, and I closed the show with this song. Ever since then, the song has been running through my head. I suppose my Psychic DJ was in action, because how could I have known that this "finale" for the Peacock show would express so perfectly how I feel and what I have said publicly this week?

I dedicate this to all of you that bang your own drum!

"I am what I am" from La Cage aux Folles

I am what I am
I am my own special creation
So come take a look
Give me the hook
Or the ovation
It's my world
That I want to have a little pride in
My world
And it's not a place I have to hide in
Life's not worth a damn
Till I can say
Hey world, I am what I am

I am what I am
I don't want praise I don't want pity
I bang my own drum
Some think it's noise I think it's pretty
And so what if I love each sparkle and each …

Communicate -> Contacts -> Friends and Groups

The software trainer says: "In the lower left corner of your Second Life Linden Lab client, click the Communicate button. In the dialog box that appears, click the Contacts tab in the lower left of that dialog box. You will see two tabs in the upper left of the dialog box: Friends and Groups".

Now that we are all on the same "page", I have an announcement and a question regarding Friends and Groups in Second Life. :-)

Gabi's Friends List - The Announcement

My Friends list is insanely huge due to what I do in SL professionally with Radio Riel and my Estates. It stopped being useful to me by the end of 2007 because it was so big and clunky. I have always used Calling Cards in my Inventory to search for the names and profiles of my friends, and to deliver important information.

Some of you might recall that Desmond Shang had to delete his entire Friends list last year, and then slowly rebuild it because the amount of data in the list was severely slowing his SL c…

Stupid Girl

Sometimes I can be *really* stupid. Afterwards, all I can do is shake my head at myself and wonder how I can *be* so stupid!

For those of you who have not heard (and I don't see how you'd have missed this), I lit the fuse on a keg o drama on Sunday evening when I referred to Hotspur Otoole as "Hothead the Tool" in Main chat at the end of an event. Then I encouraged any and all present to send him the chat transcripts. Sadly one attendee thought I was directing the "send the chat to Hotspur" comment at him/her, which was not the case. I then admitted what I said on my Plurk timeline...and it just got more fun from there.

Oh yeah. I get the 2009 award for "Teh Stoopid".

I have heard that Hotspur posted about this mess I created on his Blog, asking questions about why I did what I did. You'll have to find the link to the post on your own, as I am not in the mood to go read it and all the "shocked, horrified, Gabi is evil" comments. :…
