Relay, Radio Riel and Relaxation

What a busy, busy weekend! I most definitely did not sleep enough, but I do feel like I (along with others) accomplished much!

Edward the Earl and Otenth the Jarl rocked The Rock Factory on Friday evening. After seeing them off at the top of the show, I "let go of the bike and let them ride" - I left for an evening to myself!!! I can not remember the last time I was able to just go "play" about the has been far, far too long!

Saturday was the start of RFL. I was so proud to wear my Caledon Tartan and to enjoy the commeraderie at the beautiful Caledon Campsite. Mr. Podruly Peccable kindly offered to accompany me on my lap, which started at 6:00pm SLT. And what a lap! The route was long, and wound through the most amazing builds! Any time anyone tells me that Second Life isn't real, I will point to the almost $32,000,000.00 Lindens raised to help eradicate cancer. I walked for Ann, my human's son's preschool teacher - an amazing woman who has now …

Lord Primbroke at The Rock Factory

Come out tomorrow night to The Rock Factory in Danica as my lovely Lord Edward takes the microphone and spins for Radio Riel!

His Serenity, Jarl Otenth Paderborn will be hosting.

My goodness! We *are* quite the aristocratic crowd! :-)

Caledonian Etiquette...Revisited

This post of my Cousin Eva's was just *too* good not to share!

I do hope the citizens of Caledon find this tome useful.

Lovely Time in Lovelace

What a pleasure it was to be a part of the Caledon Library's Harry Potter Celebration last evening! I had the *best* time creating a "Harry Potter" music playlist! :-) I hope those of you that attended enjoyed the music as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

The evening starting slowly, as is usually the case with SL events. I was at Lovelace with Caledon's Head Librarian, Mr. JJ Drinkwater, serving as the "Library Location Host".

The Sorting Hat

One of the most interesting components of the Harry Potter Celebration tonight was being sorted into the Houses.

The sorting hat says that I belong in Gryffindor!

Said Gryffindor, "We'll teach all those with brave deeds to their name."
Students of Gryffindor are typically brave, daring, and chivalrous.
Famous members include Harry, Ron, Hermione, Albus Dumbledore (head of Hogwarts), and Minerva McGonagall (head of Gryffindor).

Take the most scientific Harry Potter
ever created.
Get Sorted Now!
It's official - I'm in Gryffindor. :-) I scored a 92 for Gryffindor, 80 for Ravenclaw, 82 for Hufflepuff and a 46 for Slytherin.

No Muggles Allowed!

The day has arrived: it is the release of the final Harry Potter book by J.K. Rowling! If you were a child when the first Harry Potter book hit shelves, you have likely lived several lifetimes since that time. To me it just feels like a few years ago that my human tossed the first two books into her carry-on luggage on a business trip to San Francisco in 1999.

But here we are! It's 2007, and we "live" in a virtual world where we can celebrate Harry Potter in a way we could have never imagined in the late 1990s. Please join the Caledon Library for a gala Harry Potter Celebration tonight from 6:00pm -9:00pm SLT.

There are four event locations to satisfy the whim of every Potter fan:
The Caledon Academy of Virtual Wizardry - Sorting HatReader's Garden in Cybary II - Trivia ContestLovelace - Costume Contest and DancingFictionAlley - Role PlayThe winner of the trivia contest will be announced at 8:30pm. Voting for the costume contest starts at 7:00pm with the winner bei…

Vintage Clothing Reproductions

I have been away on RL vacation, thus the delay in this post!

Last Friday, July 13, I had the great pleasure of attending the Grand Opening of Vintage Clothing Reproductions, an endeavor by the extremely talented fashion designer, Miss Skye Qi.

She held the opening in her new shop in Caledon VictoriaCity. We guests were treated to a fashion show of Miss Qi's newly released Victorian reproduction dresses. The hostess for the show was Miss Abigail Raymaker of Caledon.

Not only was this a Grand Opening gala, but Miss Qi kindly offered to donate 50% of the price of every item sold during the event to Relay for Life! I am not sure of the total, but I know that they had raised around $20,000 L by the time I was forced to take my leave.

I want to extend my sincerely congratulations to Miss Qi, Miss Raymaker and their team. This event was a …

The Nightingale

It is official...I have named my chivalric order.

The Order of the Nightingale (L'ordre du Rossignol)

From Wikipedia: "Nightingales are named so because they frequently sing at night as well as during the day. The name has been used for well over 1,000 years, being highly recognizable even in its Anglo-Saxon form - 'nihtingale'. It means 'night songstress'."

I will be announcing the members of the Court of Carntaigh and the Knights of my order in the very near future. I use three main criteria when I ask someone to be a part of my Court:Proven and consistent service to the Independent State of CaledonProven and consistent service to the Duchy of CarntaighProven and loyal friendship to me, the Duchess of Carntaigh, personallyI do not require formal vows of fealty from the members of my Court. I feel that their actions have already spoken for them. My Court is a way that I can acknowledge outstanding citizens, more of an award on behalf of myself and my small …

The Metronome Jazz Club and Cosmic Connections Present
Riel Jazz @ the Met Thursday, July 12, 2007
5 - 7:00 PM at the Metronome Jazz Club
In Beautiful San Francisco, Danica

The 1920s and 1930s represented the age of classic Jazz, but was also the height of the Flapper era and the peak of activity against Prohibition here in the United States. That gave rise to Gangster activity, with the likes of such figures as Al Capone. The Met will relive that era with Gabrielle Riel filling is for Sasy 'n Rex, while they are on vacation. She will be playing 1920s and 1930s Jazz Standards. Ladies, please come dressed in your favorite Flapper attire, Men in your favorite Gangster attire. 500L to Best in Flapper Attire and 500L to Best in Gangster Attire

Eggs in the RFL Basket

On Monday evening I was enjoying my typical glass of Champagne with friends at The Falling Anvil. It has been such a long time since I have been out to simply be social! I am usually working behind the scenes, or on the air - and this was a welcome respite! Z. Wormser, E. Somme, H. Otoole, L. Beaumont, M. Figaro, T. Yoshikawa, G. Cleanslate, Myself and D. Gustafson Miss Gustafson and Yours TrulySuddenly, distantly, I heard the very recognizable refrain of "We Like to Party" by the Vengaboys. And in rode Caledonians in Blue...and on...cows.

Col. Pearse and Col. Scaggs

Col. Scaggs invited Col. Pearse to have a drink, and somehow they fell to discussing the riveting subject of how to eat one's softboiled egg.

Well, of course there is no question about that! The small end sits upright! But alas, the Colonel in Blue and his regiment seem to be woefully misinformed on the subject. And so it begins... the great Egg Battle has commenced. :-)

Give me a C!

A-L-E-D-O-N - What's it spell? CALEDON!!!

This week is the highly anticipated Relay for Life Caledon Militia Roleplay! I look forward to the spirited battles in the days ahead! I hope that everyone has much fun with this...and that we all keep our core values of politeness, good sportmanship and humor for the duration.

Captain Mordecai Scaggs is heading up the Blue Team, and Sir Edward Pearse the Red Team. Sir Edward is my SL "family" and a Knight in my court...therefore I wanted to show him my support in a unique way. Behold... the Red Hot Red Team Cheerleaders!
Lady Christine, Cousin Eva and I Bring It OnTo say that we were highly amused during our "Red Team Cheerleader Uniform Search" is putting it mildly. Then the following day, when I was assisting my friend Major Squirrel Zuhal with shopping for a kilt, I stumbled upon the *perfect* uniform...and one that is more appropriately "Caledon"! :-)

Management of Virtual World Libraries

Last Friday, Caledon's esteemed Librarian, Mr. JJ Drinkwater, contacted me about providing music for a class that he and one of his colleagues were going to be giving in the Reading Garden in Caledon Prime.

I was intrigued...I have been fascinated by the application of education in Second Life. (My human is an Instructional Designer - my inner training geek was let loose!) I was especially excited to learn this was a RL class, associated with a RL University.

What transpired were two very enjoyable hours of me observing RL education at work in SL. Miss Lorelei Juno presented first, and then Mr. Drinkwater. The students, for the most part, were all quite new to Second Life, and it was interesting to hear the types of questions they had. It took me back to what I felt like when I was new in this strange and exciting world!

This is the final word on what occurred last Sunday night at Mr. JJ Drinkwater's Rez Day.

I have stripped Mr. Red Caliber of his Knighthood in Carntaigh and removed him from my Court. He is no longer my Consort.

Mr. Caliber will be taking a leave of absence from Radio Riel of an undetermined length.

Mr. Caliber has also chosen to leave Caledon temporarily, which is his choice, and not something I desire.

I know that each of you has your own opinion on this situation, but what matters to me most is my own. I have forgiven him for what happened, and I consider this matter in the past.

Red Caliber and Gabrielle Riel were friends before we became a couple. I still consider him my friend. I do not want to hear of people treating him poorly due to this situation. He retains the affection and loyalty I give to my friends, and I wish him the best in "starting again" as my friend, my coworker and a citizen of the Independent State of Caledon.
